Hi Everyone
I have a few Valentine's Day ideas coming up in the next week and this one is heaps of fun to make.
Each little paper container inside the jar contains a date idea. Each month we will pick one out and we have four weeks to make sure we set aside an evening to do whatever is on the card.
If you have read my blog before - you will know that these "Sour Cream" containers are one of my favorite projects to make.

You can see a detailed tutorial on how to make the containers here and the measurements I used for these particular mini containers were 2"x4" or 5x10cm. I used the Yours Truly Collection from Echo Park. You can use either the 6x6 Paper Pad or the 12 x 12 papers
- Print and cut out 12 ideas for dates for you and your partner
- Roll the date up and insert into the container (see here for the detailed tutorial)
- Seal up the other end
- Make 11 more!
The plastic jar I have used was one I picked up at a dollar store and I used some of the stickers from the Elements Sticker Sheet to decorate. A few small rhinestones, a paper circle in the lid cut with my Cuttlebug
and Spellbinders
and it's all done!

Love this idea, do you have a suggestion for the maximum width of the date idea? I'm not sure how wide to make them and have them still fit in the container once rolled up...without distorting the container's shape.
ReplyDeleteHi - I guess it depends on what kind of paper you print them on as to how tightly you can roll them up!
DeleteMine were 11.5 x x3cm but I printed them onto card and they were quite bulky! I rolled them tightly around a peencil and then fit infine.
If you used plain copy paper to print on it would be a lot easier!

ReplyDeleteHi - sorry but most of these reasons were pretty personal so no I am not going to share!
DeleteI just tried to think of fun things we could do (mainly at home as we don't have easy access to babysitters!) that we take us out of our normal routine. Maybe cooking meal together and a nice bottle of wine, takeout and a movie on DVD, a no-TV night - things like that.
You could try googling date ideas too!

DeleteI totally understand! I figured that they might be personal, but it doesn't hurt to ask. Actually I'm really glad you don't have all of your ideas showing because it made me actually think about what my guy likes, I just needed to stop being lazy :) And thanks for some of the suggestions you replied with.
Some of mine ended up including "date: blankets, champagne, and stargazing" and "date: backyard, tent, sleepingbags, ghost stories, and s’mores!" and "date: fooseball, beers, and a little competition!" (All things he's into!)
Again, thank you so much for the cute idea & for the tutorial on the sour cream packets! Too precious! :)
