Operation Write Home w/ Cosmo Cricket!

Hi Everyone – today I am sharing some cards and they are going to some very special people.. read on for more information!
Cosmo Cricket is one of my absolute favorite manufactures, and when they posted a Challenge this week to create a project that “Makes a Difference” it seemed like the perfect time to do something I had wanted to do in a while!
I decided to make some cards for Operation Write Home (more about them later) and I have used the Togetherness Collection from Cosmo Cricket.
These cards are so simple, but they are bright and cheery which was important. I love this one above which I thought would be great for a Dad away to send to his daughter

I made a total of 15 from this collection and another 9 using Circa 1934 (see below) in about 2 hours – and I am not much of a cardmaker!

I hope that the servicemen and women who get to send these to their loved ones smile when they see these!
Operation Write Home
Simply put – Operation Write Home sends blank, homemade cards to servicemen overseas so they may send them home to their families. They have sent over 1 million cards since 2007 – HOW COOL IS THAT!

All the information you need to know about them is on their Facebook page and Website – I urge you to check it out as there are a few rules you need to follow. They prefer standard size cards (oops!) definitely no glitter and ideally they should be labelled and tucked into envelopes correctly
  1. I created some labels for the backs with the OWH logo and my blog address
  2. Stuck them to all the cards
  3. Tucked and folded them all into envelopes correctly 🙂
I also made some cards using the Circa 1934 Collection (also from Cosmo Cricket) These are a little more sophisticated and I made a couple with ages on them for specific birthdays.
I am sending off my cards tomorrow with about another 100 assorted cards, bookmarks and mini decorated notebooks that I seem to have accumulated over the last couple of years!
Please post a comment with any questions.
Lowri

LOVE your cards! Are you as bummed as I am that Circa 1934 is being discontinued? 🙁

Oh, wow. What an amazing project…I love this. I know several folks who are just returning from deployment, and I know it would have meant so much to them to receive something like this. Your cards are adorable and the generosity behind them is even more beautiful. Thanks for sharing this fantastic idea at Shine on Fridays…you truly are shining.
