Shadow Box Advent Calendar (Echo Park and Kaisercraft)

Please note that the Blog Hop and competitions previously detailed on this post have now closed. You can see who won my prize here. I encourage you to visit all the fabulous blogs that were on the hop – you can see a complete list on the Echo Park Blog. Advent Calender   This Advent Calendar looks so festive decorated with the This and That Christmas Collection. I tried to pick papers that gave it a Nordic feel, with lots of paler colors and splashes of red. The calendar base is from Kaisercraft and is easy to put together. If you follow this short video here on YouTube you can construct the frame in about 10 minutes. To cover the boxes in paper I glue each box individually then cover the 2 sides and back of the box with one strip of paper, cutting a separate piece for the front face. Other people have quicker ways of doing this but I do not think they give as nice a finish. You just need to try and see which works best for you. This particular calendar has a shadow-box central area  which is a great place to create a Christmas Scene. […]

Butterfly Easel Card Tutorial and FREE Template

Hi Everyone Welcome to my Butterfly Easel Card tutorial.  I have provided step-by step instructions below on how to create the card base plus a free downloadable .svg cut file for those of you who like to use digital die-cut machines. There are also a couple of hints for Cameo users who may be new to using files not purchased in the Silhouette Store. If you do not have a digital die cut machine you can download a pdf file here and create a hand-cut template – sizing instructions included. Pink Paislee Butterly Easel Card

Hi Everyone Please note there is now a full tutorial and free .svg and pdf template for this project available here. Butterfly Easel Card I do not consider myself much of a cardmaker – but I do like to create dimensional cards that kind of do all the work for you! I adapted this design from a few ideas I saw online. The Mistables papers from Pink Paislee form the perfect base for this card which folds completely flat for mailing and fits into a standard square envelope. I used crimson paint to color the butterflies – though I applied it very lightly and rubbed the excess off with a damp cloth – which resulted in a delicate orange finish .  I really had to resist the temptation to add more to this card – but sometimes less IS more! The butterfly on the front is colored the same way and is one of the new exciting pieces in the Artisan Collection. Since this card was published, I have been asked a few times for a tutorial showing how to create it. I will be creating a tutorial soon as well as hopefully sharing a cutting file in several formats […]
