FLORAL SHUTTER CARD (PHOTO PLAY PAPER)

Hi Everyone – Today I am sharing a card I have created a pre-cut Shutter card base from Photo Play Paper and the Stillwater collection from Rosie’s Studio.

I have always loved making interactive / 3-d cards, and I was keen to try out these bases from Photo Play Paper that come with much of the hard work already done for you! These cards will be perfect for Mother’s Day next weekend.

I was very pleased to discover that the measurements for these pre-cut pieces were very precise – as I have been frustrated in the past by similar products not lining up or being correctly cut to size. This great value pack comes with three card bases and excellent, step by step instructions on how to put your card together. I used a circle die from a set I already owned, though you can purchase a card set with the circle die included at this link here.

I decided to use one of the bases as a template to keep for reference and future use, and wrote the measurements of the card segments on the base. This will ensure that future cards will come together super quickly! I was pleased to see that all measurements were easy, round numbers to work with and I was able to easily an allowance of 1/16″ on each side to allow the white of the card to show through, and form a “mat” for my paper.

The Stillwater collection is a lovely, watercolor inspired set and you may still be able to pick up some pieces here in New Zealand from The Warehouse or Warehouse Stationery. Check out this link HERE to see if Rosie’s Studio is available in your country.

This video shows how the card looks when opened and might give you an idea of how you can hide a fun message or greeting for your recipient inside for a simple, but big impact! I am planning on using these cards for Mother’s Day.

The vellum flowers and chipboard pieces from the Stillwater Collection made decorating this simple card really easy and the rose gold foil accents add a touch of shine when the recipient opens up the card. I used Tombow Mono Glue throughout this project, and it was suitable for all applications, including gluing the vellum flowers.
