Paper Bead Tutorial – SUMMER FUN!

Hi Everyone Here is a fun activity for a Summertime Camp, party or sleepover – a necklace made from paper beads. I created this post for Design Dazzle – so hop on over there and see what other fun things they have in store for you at their Summer Camp! First, using a sharp knife or scissors, cut your paper to the shapes shown below. I like to cut a template from an old cereal box and then draw multiple images by tracing onto scrapbook paper lightly with a pencil. Then use a knife or scissors to cut out (your kids may be able to do this depending on age – but you DO need to be reasonably accurate).   Using a cocktail stick, wrap the wide end of each strip around tightly and secure using a tiny spot of glue (I used Tombow liquid glue which holds and dries in a couple of seconds). Keep on rolling using the occasional spot of glue until  you reach the end – and you are done! You can see below several examples of each bead – you don’t have to worry at all about them all looking identical – they won’t!   […]

Mini Album in a Tin – Cosmo Cricket Style!

Hi Everyone – another Cosmo Cricket Challenge this week and a chance to use the fabulous new 2WENTY-THR3E Collection showcased at CHA 2012. I was lucky enough to have been given a set of papers from this Collection and the Challenge was to alter a tin – but I have chosen to use a re-use a tin in a slightly different way. I LOVE to make these little albums and give them in vintage tins. I used the Postcards paper for the body of the book and then used some of the new Hello Washi Tape as a book binding. The “Smile” sentiment was cut from the Photo Booth paper and mounted with a small amount of dimensional tape.   I created some tiny tabs and added the initials of my children with some Tiny Type stickers. A plain wooden button with a dab of brown ink, a couple more tiny type stickers and some ever popular twine for decoration and the book is complete ready to be put into the tin! I am going to fill the book with my favorite mini pics of the kids and some of the fabulous embellishments from the collection when they become available! […]

Folded Paper Flowers – with Tutorial!

Hi Everyone I made these flowers this afternoon. It’s actually surprising how quick they are to make – to give you an idea – I made these in the time it takes for 2 “Dora the Explorers” to play on DVD.. You can also see these flowers made with maps here For those with no kids or kids over the age 8 – that’s about 50 minutes! It’s also the last day of Breast Cancer Awareness Month too – so a big HELLO and THANK-YOU to anyone who has donated in any way or helped fundraise for this very worthy cause. I have also attempted a tutorial for the first time!  I have seen a few on-line for these flowers but I think this summarises the steps pretty easily. Would love some feedback! I have used the Cosmo Cricket “Jolly by Golly” collection from last year and I am going to put something similar together for the Artfull Crafts Christmas Countdown next month using one of the Kaisercraft collections.   I used leftover papers I was not too keen on for these flowers – I can’t wait to make some using papers I really like!   Having experimented with different numbers […]
