Recipe Box (Kaisercraft – Nan’s Favourites)

Hi Everyone – writing to you from chilly Marlborough. Our grape harvest is almost over and the nights are getting COLD with the frost alarms going off every night this week. There’s snow on them there hills and the heating is well and truly on! Today I have a recipe box to show you using the Kaisercraft “Nans Favourites” Collection – which has been MY favorite collection of theirs this year so far. I have covered the box using the Lemon Slice and Apple Pie papers and lined it using the Cookie Dough and Shortbread papers.  I have used paper-pad, elements and chipboard to decorate as well as one of the Kaisercraft Wood Flourishes in the shape of a weighing scale. I love these flourishes – they are so versatile but one word of warning – they are delicate too, so take care when you are taking them off the packaging. I have been a little over-enthusiastic in the past and snapped them but you can always just glue them and use them on a card 🙂 I thought the chipboard pieces from this collection were really fun – so I decided to use them as tabs for my box. Acrylic Stamp Cookies Cupcakes and a FAB Blog-Hop!

Hi everyone – and if you are following the Paper Issues bloghop – you should have come from Mandy Kay’s blog here. Don’t forget to read to the end to find out where to hop next and how you can be in to win some great prizes! The theme for the hop is Favorites and one of my favorite things to do scrapbook-wise is to try and use items for a purpose other than that they were intended for!!! Check out my post below to see the following 1) Acryclic Stamp Cookies 2) Acrylic Stamp Cookie Tutorial 3) Cupcake Toppers 4) Cuttlebug Icing Tutorial 1) Acrylic Stamp Cookies  I have been wanting to try this for AGES – so I did! I have used acrylic stamps and food coloring to create some cute critter cookie toppers! 2) Acrylic Stamp Cookies Tutorial Knead a little cornflour into your icing paste until it loses that sticky surface feeling Roll the icing between 2 sheets of non-stick baking parchment. Lightly dust the surface of the icing with cornstarch again to remove any trace of stickiness Spread some gel icing onto an acrylic block (I used Chefmaster) Ink your stamp with the colouring – […]

Rubons – not just for paper & a chocolate surprise

Hi Everyone Rubons – Not Just for Paper! These are not just for paper anymore – here are a couple of examples where I have applied them to china for a one-off occasion. Christmas (Rubons from Kaisercraft) Valentines Day Each of these examples is just a simple rub-on onto some whiteware. You need to make sure your piece is very clean – and use some window/glasses cleaner to remove all traces of grease before you start. Then simply apply as you would to paper – making sure you press firmly into all the corners. I find the china less forgiving than paper in this regard! When you are done using the piece and want to restore it to its original state, simply rub-off or use a craft knife to lightly scrape. Themed Party I have had limited success in trying this technique onto glass but it can definitely be done! Try Google for some good examples. Now – you might have noticed that these are filled with some rather gorgeous chocolates. Well – I made them and here is how! Graduated Colour Chocolates This was SO much fun – and very simple. It is a little time consuming as you […]

Lovely Lemons! (Gift Tag and Jar)

Hi Everyone – I love lemons and here are a few ideas including making your own Preserved Lemons and covering a plain jar lid with paper. Making the Covered Lids You can see my tutorial for making the covered lids below. The only difference is that this time I did not wrap the paper underneath the lid as I didn’t want to compromise the seal of the jar. I just cut the circle of paper a little smaller and used a paper strip to cover the paper edges – you can see that step in the pictures below. If you take a look at the tutorial it will become obvious!    Tutorial Here are the finished results. Covered lid Gift tag Making Preserved Lemons Here is the tutorial on how to make the lemons.. Gather lemons, salt and a jar Top and tail lemons and then cut each lemon Âľ way through, turn over, rotate 90 degrees and repeat cut Fill cuts generously with salt Pack lemons into jar using tops to fill in any gaps Top up jar with lemon juice.
