Hi Everyone A little gift set to share today using one of my all time favorite manufacturers – Cosmo Cricket! Please note that the competition previously detailed here has now closed – you can see who won here. The colors in this gorgeous collection make it so versatile – and this little set was sent to accompany a handmade gift I created so the recipient can add their own message when they give the gift. This card is a “swing” card. I used this file and my Cameo to create it – but there are heaps of great online templates too – try this fabulous one here from Beate Johns. This (above) is what you see when you open the card – plenty of room for you to hand write your message along with this fabulous sticker from the Tiny Text, Together stickers. This tag is so simple and I love the look of the bold, black sentiment. To create this shape – cut a rectangle of paper and use a circle punch to snip off the corners and create a tag shape on the two top corners. Punch a small hole in the top and add some bakers twine […]

Hi Everyone Last week I shared this mini-album idea and today I am sharing a detailed tutorial showing how I made it! Following the exact directions below will result in an album measuring 2″ x 2.5″ containing 11 double-sided pages but you can adjust the dimensions of the folds to yield an album of any size. The starting size paper for this exact album is 10″ x 12″ Mini Album Tutorial Score at 2″ intervals along the 12″ long side of the paper Rotate paper and score at 2.5″ intervals along the 10″ long side of the paper Fold at score marks to define the creases Make cuts as shown (details in diagram below) Begin to fold into pages, alternating pages of the book Continue folding each page until all are complete Leaving one page at each end, create album pages by gluing pages together Continue gluing until all pages are complete Cut a strip of paper 2.5″ wide Adhere one end of strip to front of book Wrap strip around book and glue onto back Your book is complete! As with all projects like this – I suggest you practice on scrap paper a couple of times so you […]
Hi Everyone – another Cosmo Cricket Challenge this week and a chance to use the fabulous new 2WENTY-THR3E Collection showcased at CHA 2012. I was lucky enough to have been given a set of papers from this Collection and the Challenge was to alter a tin – but I have chosen to use a re-use a tin in a slightly different way. I LOVE to make these little albums and give them in vintage tins. I used the Postcards paper for the body of the book and then used some of the new Hello Washi Tape as a book binding. The “Smile” sentiment was cut from the Photo Booth paper and mounted with a small amount of dimensional tape. I created some tiny tabs and added the initials of my children with some Tiny Type stickers. A plain wooden button with a dab of brown ink, a couple more tiny type stickers and some ever popular twine for decoration and the book is complete ready to be put into the tin! I am going to fill the book with my favorite mini pics of the kids and some of the fabulous embellishments from the collection when they become available! […]
Hi Everyone – today I am sharing some cards and they are going to some very special people.. read on for more information! Cosmo Cricket is one of my absolute favorite manufactures, and when they posted a Challenge this week to create a project that “Makes a Difference” it seemed like the perfect time to do something I had wanted to do in a while! I decided to make some cards for Operation Write Home (more about them later) and I have used the Togetherness Collection from Cosmo Cricket. These cards are so simple, but they are bright and cheery which was important. I love this one above which I thought would be great for a Dad away to send to his daughter I made a total of 15 from this collection and another 9 using Circa 1934 (see below) in about 2 hours – and I am not much of a cardmaker! I hope that the servicemen and women who get to send these to their loved ones smile when they see these! Operation Write Home Simply put – Operation Write Home sends blank, homemade cards to servicemen overseas so they may send them home to their families. They […]
Did you know this project now has its own website – with heaps of additional information. Note: If you would like to link to, feature or re-publish this project – please see here. Tutorial Below you will find the tutorial showing how to make the cards. On the website you can also find a complete supply list and all the information on purchasing a template to create the labels. Find some playing cards! These fabulous cards from Ellusionist shown here are great as they have a pre-aged Vintage look. Scuff them up with some sandpaper to give them a used feel as well as a used look Create a template with one of the spare cards (for example one of the Jokers) Punch two holes in each cards using the template as a guide Create your reasons labels to attach to the cards – detailed information below. Use another Joker card to create the front cover. Using double sided tape and/or glue – attach the inserts to the cards. Using glue will take longer to dry and will stiffen the cards up adding more dimension. Create all 52 of your reasons cards and let the glue dry Thread onto book rings NOTE: I […]
Hi Everyone I have had these FABULOUS oldish Cosmo Cricket Collections sitting in my stash for ages now – but never the right project to justify cutting into them. Last weekend I finally found it as I created a little birthday album for one of my son’s best friends. This mini album is a mix of the Joy Ride, Boyfriend and Lil Man Collections – and they blended seamlessly together. I cut squares of paper and double sided adhesive chipboard with my Spellbinders and then just stuck the paper onto the chipboard to create some stiff pages. I just went to town on the decoration using all the bits and pieces I had! I alternated decorated pages with blank squares so little pictures could just be printed and glued in to make a completed book by the recipient. The wonderful variety of embellishments I had included chipboard, stickers and an old pack of rubons – which still worked perfectly. I then used my Zutter machine to bind it all together. The rings are a little small – but that doesn’t matter! I have been very fortunate this last year with opportunities that have come my way but I haven’t taken […]
