Hi Everyone – what a week here! Coldest weather in decades – my kids got to play in snow and I am showering this evening in case my pipes are frozen again in the morning and I have to wash in a basin again! Snow Pictures – because it’s such a novelty! No – this is not my house! It’s our Cobb Cottage and it’s where the men who built our homestead lived in the 1860’s. I cannot imagine what it would have been like to spend a winter living here. Before all my North American friends fall off their chairs laughing at this pathetic amount of snow – this is BIG NEWS where we are!! Miss Nelly Flowers and Sparklets Last week I wanted to make a bunch of flowers for someone special who is due to have an operation – so I thought it would be a perfect excuse to try out the new Miss Nelly collection from Kaisercraft and some of their really cool new giant sparkly sticky things called Sparklets. I have cut the flowers using my Cuttlebug and Tim Holtz die. The whole bunch took around 45 minutes to make and they look wonderful. […]

Hi Everyone This post has been updated in May 2020. Check out our new tutorial below!I made several of these flowers this afternoon. It’s actually surprising how quick they are to make – to give you an idea – I made these in the time it takes for 2 “Dora the Explorers” to play on DVD. For those without kids under the age of 8 – that’s about 50 minutes! It is important to cut squares very precisely for this project. I suggest using some square craft dies if you have a die-cutting machine, or if not – any paper trimmer will do the job. I have listed my favorites below! I strongly suggest you use hot glue for this project. Something else might work in a pinch, but for this type of project, hot glue is the way to go! For these flowers below, I used some old maps I found in a second hand store. The paper was crisp, and beautiful to fold, and it’s lovely to think these flowers give new function to the paper. Once you have finished your flowers, you can easily glue them to a stick or other mount of sorts to create a […]
Hi Everyone A couple more Sassafras Lass ideas today. Here I have taken 2 previous ideas of mine and just given them a new purpose! Ruffle Flower Invitations These are fun to make and I am guessing would be a unique idea – especially amongst your non-crafty friends. Instead of giving out a flat invitation – why not think 3D! Your invite is sure to be a hit and what’s more – it will probably ensure that none of your guests forget the date.. It goes without saying that this idea can be adapted to any occasion and you can see my tutorial on how to make the flowers here. I have used the Indie Girl Collection from Sassafras Lass – it has some lovely printed paper and I have just printed onto the patterned paper and then used Spellbinders to cut and emboss the scalloped circles. Lachlan Memory Book OK – so this is just ANOTHER example of my folded mini – but I just love this technique and the 4″x3″ book that is produced is so perfect and small for slipping into a purse.. This one has some fun pictures of my son and all the things he […]
Hi Everyone. This week, the Artfull Crafts Christmas Countdown is all about making Home Decorations. I will be showing more of my projects later in the week but I wanted to get this tutorial up at the same time I posted on the AC blog! I am not really a ruffley (is that a word?) person – but these flowers are everywhere right now so I thought I would seek out how to make them. There are heaps of tutorials that all looked a bit complicated, so I broke out the hot glue gun and got to work! I have made these examples using the Kaisercraft Be Merry Collection and the Cosmo Cricket Jolly by Golly Collection. Here are the Cosmo Cricket examples.. And last but not least – here is the tutorial. I would love to see what you come up with – and please let me know if you have any questions!
